DEE DEE limited edition handmade print

Description: "Dee Dee" is an original handmade block print of a Black-capped Chickadee calling out a message while perched on an Alder branch. The number of "dee dee"s at the end of his call refines his message to his buddies in "The Alder Gang," a group of songbirds made up of different species who share their environment and help each other stay safe. The more "dees," the more vigilant they should be.

Printmaking Process: I hand-printed each print on white 100% cotton paper (archival and acid-free) with lightfast ink. For each of the eight colors, I carved out more and more of the same linoleum block by hand and then printed that color. This method is called reduction printmaking because you reduce the block as you carve more away. That means you cannot go back and print a color again. Thus, this is a limited edition of 11 prints, which I have signed by hand. 

Due to the handmade nature of printmaking, there may be slight variations between individual prints, making each one a unique piece of art.

Archival Mounting Option: This print can be bought on its own or mounted between a mat and foam board, ready to be inserted in an 8x10 inch frame. All mounting materials are acid-free and archival.
